Built From Personal Frustration

shimmer-latch started when our founder, after spending thousands on language courses and apps, still couldn't hold a basic conversation in Spanish during a trip to Barcelona. Something was fundamentally broken with how languages were being taught.

The insight came during that same trip: watching children effortlessly switch between languages, learning through play and immersion rather than textbooks. Adults could learn the same way—they just needed the right environment.

We assembled a team of linguists, cognitive scientists, and experienced teachers to build something different. Not another app. Not another grammar course. A genuine pathway to fluency that respects how adult brains actually learn.
